Following a stalemate in contract talks, the Sunday Herald Sun reports that Weekend Today and Australian Ninja Warrior have both left the Nine Network. Maddern joined Nine in 2016, taking over the AFL Footy Show from its previous home on Seven.

In addition to Ben Fordham, she has served as co-host of Ninja Warrior since the show’s beginning in the same year. The program will be relaunched with new presenters in 2022 since Fordham just revealed he was stepping down from his position on the show.

She will be joining Richard Wilkins on Weekend Today in 2020, and she has previously been on coverage of the Australian Open, Cricket World Cup, and Ashes Series.

According to Nine, “Bec has been a tremendous asset to the company since she joined us,” and the company wishes her the best of luck for the future. In the year 2022, Weekend Today will include Richard Wilkins, Charles Croucher, Belinda Russell, and Jayne Azzopardi, among other guests.

Maddern began working for Nine in March 2016 as a co-host on The Footy Show, where she was the first female co-host, catapulting her to national attention. Her subsequent work with the network included coverage of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, the 2019 Ashes Series in England, and the Australian Open.
