Garson reprised her role in the sequels, Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2. He recently reprised the character in the currently-in-production reboot of the television series And Just Like That.

Although the reason for Garson’s death has not been disclosed officially, Michael Patrick King, executive producer of Sex and the City and And Just Like That, said in a statement on Tuesday that Garson was ill. “He was a part of our family for almost 25 years and developed one of the most adored characters in the HBO pantheon.
Variety and People verified the news as well, reporting that he died surrounded by family after a brief illness. Stanford was perpetually unmarried but always fashionable, with bright suit-and-tie outfits that matched Carrie’s fanciful appearances.
