Www.njmvc.gov | The New Jersey Motor Car Commission announced this week that vehicle registration renewals are now accessible by appointment at NJMVC.gov for customers who are not qualified to renew their registrations online via the website.
It is the MVC’s policy to always check our website before visiting a local office, and to take advantage of our “Skip the Trip” license renewal procedure as well as our online services such as vehicle registration renewals, driver abstract inquiries, surcharge, and restoration payments, among others.
The NJMVC.gov website allows you to complete the majority of your registration renewals online. It is only for people who have attempted to renew their registration online but were denied eligibility, requiring a visit to an MVC Vehicle Center in person that appointments are made available.
Customers may schedule an appointment for any service by logging on to NJMVC.gov and scrolling down to the “Schedule an Appointment” box or by selecting the “Make Appointment” menu heading from the main menu. Bookings for appointments are made on a rolling 30-day basis.
Licensing and registration renewals or replacements may be accomplished online at NJMVC.gov for the majority of basic license and registration requirements. The MVC website offers approximately thirty various online services and transactions, all of which are free of charge.
In recent months, the MVC has made a number of adjustments to its operations. Customers should refer to the new “How do I…?” Cheat Sheet, which can be found in the Quick Links section of the MVC home page, to determine if a transaction is possible online, by appointment, or by walk-in.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the MVC has expanded the number of vehicle types eligible for online registration renewal by 20.
Last week, the MVC announced the inclusion of appointments for out-of-state transfers and registration/title transfers, which may now be scheduled online at NJMVC.gov. The appointments are also accessible at NJMVC.gov. The MVC Vehicle Centers will only be open by appointment beginning on November 2nd, according to the company.
